    Thank You Ellen!

    September 28, 2007
Dear Ellen, My name is Cordero Chestnut and I am 11 years old and am on my moms computer and I would like to say Thank You! To make a long story short and too the point, my mom has been fighting Cancer for the past 3 years and it has spread into her bones causing her alot of pain to just walk! But ever since she started watching your show she gets up and dances for the first few minutes that you do in the beginning of the show. She sometimes gets tickled at her self for doing this but I love to see her smile! Cause some days especially when it rains all she can do is cry cause she is in so much pain. So from the bottom of my heart Thank You Ellen! Always, Cordero James Chestnut Summerville, SC

    Society Is Weak

    November 10, 2007
Society is so weak!!! Everyone is always willing to hop on the ban wagon when it comes to bashing someone. Ellen is a daytime show, just like Oprah, The View, and Regis and Kelly....she is not held to the same contract that Jay, David, and Conan are. Ellen has paid her dues....mostly due to people jumping on wagons to bash and destroy her and her career. Where were all of these writer's and actors when she couldn't get anyone to answer her phone calls after her show was cancelled nearly 10 years ago...she had to pound the tour beat and prove her talent all over again to be where she is today. What does Iggy or Portia have to do with her decision to work and support her staff and fans?? She has let it be known that she supports her writer's and her fans....let her entertain!!!! Society needs to stop with this, "We Build Up to Knock Down", way of life. How can you loose respect for someone who has the courage to live life honestly??? How weak can you be?

    Excellent Choice, Ellen

    November 10, 2007
Ellen has stated that she supports her writers, but chooses to continue to do her show because people have made plans to come and see her show. She makes a good point in that people have scheduled their vacations, traveled thousands of miles and planned for a long time to come see her show tape. It is more honorable that she continues her show and lets the viewers and audience continue with their lives than to sit back and do nothing while the strike goes on. All businesses continue business as usual when their employees go on strike, why should this be any different?

What about the Dog? What about the Kids?

    October 21, 2007
Oftentimes we like to wallow in the problem instead of thinking things through and trying to find a solution. When something happens everyone involved should take responsibility. Finger pointing should be directed at self and solutions should be sought.

Since we seem to love the blame game...Let's review the mistakes:
    1. Ellen did not read and comply to the contract. Excusing her mistake as simple human error, does not make it right. Had she done so, none of this would have happened. I applaud her for taking responsibility for her oversight. There was nothing more that could have been done after the mistake.

    2. The Mutts and Moms Dog Rescue Agency should not have taken the dog from the family WITHOUT taking how it would impact the dog and the family under consideration. Instead of removing the dog from the home, perhaps a better solution would have been to contact the family Ellen gave the dog to and let them know of the standards of the contract. In addition, the organization could have given the family the opportunity to adopt the dog through legal channels. Removing the dog was not only unethical, but totally unnecessary. It leaves a bad taste in the air as though either they wanted to "show Ellen whose boss" or to declare the hairdresser's family was not good enough to take the dog. Either way, it was bad business if you ask me and totally defeats the essence of what they are supposed to be doing. I do not applaud them for their tactics of hiding behind the contract and overlooking the inhumanity. Surely they could have found a way to allow the family to keep the dog while saving face with the terms of the contract.

    3. Ellen should not have used her show to air this dirty laundry. Many feel that she tried to use her celebrity to get around the rules. In actuality, I do feel she wanted to use her celebrity to influence the organization to give the dog back, but not her intent to flaunt her celebrity to get her way. I do believe her concern was for the dog and the two girls who had to give the dog away after taking it in as a part of their family. Ellen could have handled this whole matter outside of her show, which would have prevented the backlash from her fans towards the organization and the appearance she was throwing her weight around. A lesson learned I hope.

Solution: After a mistake is made, the mistake should not be compounded by pointing fingers. The organization should have taken the higher road as the mistake Ellen made was only compounded by their response. All efforts should have been made to think of the bond between the hairdresser's family and the dog. In reality, this matter SHOULD HAVE always focused on the DOG and the HAIRDRESSER'S FAMILY. The solution cannot be found by conducting a scientific inquisition to determine who is most WRONG (Ellen or the Mutts and Moms Dog Rescue Agency). Complete nonsense! If the focus was placed on the innocent, perhaps the matter could have been settled in a more amiable way.

    That's just my opinion.
