The only show on TV that was worth watching

    September 1, 2007
It was the only television show that I'd watch. I'm really sorry that HBO didn't give it a chance to create a following. I'm sure it would have exceeded the popularity the Sopranos, or anything else on HBO for that matter, if they would have given it a chance. Now all that's on are the same old stories and reality shows.

    My favorite thus far

    March 23, 2007
Not since the Soprano have I been addicted to a series as I have with Rome. Infact, its the only reason I subscribe to HBO.

Between the music, the sets, the scripts and cast of characters - there is no other to rival this masterpiece.

To know that the series won't return next season - nor will the Soprano - know that my subscription to HBO will be severed. I can only hope that another network or private sector will pick it up and continue this saga and to exploit a phenominal cast to a wider audience.

Tis a shame HBO - you had a masterpiece on your hands.....

    ABOUT TIME

    January 14, 2007
THIS SHOW IS FANTASTIC, EVERY CHARACTER HAS DEPTH. I BEGAN TO WONDER HOW CAN THIS SHOW SURVIVE WITH THE DEATHS OF NIOBE AND CEASAR, POMPEII, AND FEISTY CATO. BUT WITH THE REST OF THE CAST IT JUST MIGHT MAKE IT. I ALSO LOVE THE WOMEN SEXY, FUNNY AND JUST AS DANGEROUS AS THE MEN IF NOT MORE SO. I MEAN JUST LOOK AT ATIA MY GOODNESS I'D PUT HER THRU A METAL DETECTOR BEFORE I WOULD INVITE HER TO MY HOUSE, AND BEAUTIFUL SOFT SPOKEN SERVILIA {BEWARE A WOMAN SCORNED}. MY TRUE SADNESS IS NOT SEEING NIOBE ANYMORE. BUT WITH NEW CHARACTERS LIKE CLEOPATRA AND "CESEAR'S" SON {I KNOW, I KNOW PULLO'S ONE NIGHT STAND}. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW BRUTUS, OCTAVIAN AND MARK ANTONY DUKE IT OUT FOR ULTIMATE POWER. YES OCTAVIAN 100 POUNDS SOAKING WET BUT AS INTELLIGENT AND RUTHLESS AS HIS MOTHER. I WISH MARK ANTONY THE BEST BUT TO MUCH WARRIOR NOT ENOUGH POLITICIAN{you can't kill everyone who disagrees with you there would be nobody to rule}. WELL I CAN WRITE FOREVER BUT I WON'T. GOODBYE FELLOW ROMANIERS, I HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY SEASON 2 AS MUCH AS I WILL.

    brilliant

Finally a show that focuses on the fantastic culture of the ancient Romans, rather than just sensationalizing the many wars. What is truly sensational is the effort exerted by this show to reproduce a day-in-a-life of an ancient Roman. To top it all off, the acting and writing is superb. I just hope it receives the praise it deserves this time round.

the single best thing on TV, bar none

    February 23, 2007
The best thing on television and one of two un-missable shows for me personally. The only down side is they do play a bit fast and loose with the unprovable history, however overall follow the line rather well.

As television however it can not be compared, the details are fantastic, costumes accurate and even exclamations period sounding. (she’s as wet as October….)

The way the famous and real characters are portrayed is the best I have ever seen. The storylines outstanding, production values wonderful and the sets are pure eye candy.

By far, the best thing on TV
