Garth, Doherty Make Nice While Filming New '90210'
Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty say they were nervous about reuniting for the new incarnation of "Beverly Hills, 90210."
The actresses feuded on and off the set of the 1990s cultural phenomenon, and Doherty left the series in 1994 following a rocky stretch during which she clashed with the cast and producers and showed up late for work.
Garth, 36, and Doherty, 37, hadn't spoken in years before filming their first scene together in the "90210" update, debuting Tuesday on the CW network. In this version, the drama centers on a new crop of West Beverly High School students. >>Read the rest of the story

'SNL' Plucks Michael Phelps Out Of The Hosting Pool
"Saturday Night Live" is looking to make a splash this season.
The aging sketch series has tapped Olympic golden boy Michael Phelps to host its 34th-season premiere Sept. 13 on NBC, which probably wouldn't mind basking in the glow from its history-making coverage of the Beijing Games a little longer.
Aside from all the commercials and inevitable talk-show spots, this will be the first "acting" role for Phelps, whose world-record-smashing, eight-gold-medal-winning performance at the Summer Olympics made him the poster boy of U.S. swimming for generations to come and won him the hearts of millions of admiring fans. >>Read the rest of the story

His pro partner, however—much to the chagrin of the blogging public, if not outspoken pro Karina Smirnoff -- will be of the fairer persuasion.
Bass leads the roster of 13 for the latest installment of ABC's hot-stepping hit, a group of contestants cobbled together from the worlds of music, acting, reality TV and, in a bit of perfect timing, Olympic-caliber sport. >>Read the rest of the story
