Favorite show of all time...
February 1, 2007
What genius! This show has everything you look for and more! Drunk Mother? Check. Cousin in love with his cousin? Check. Hilariously incompetent magician brother? You get the point.
Amid the bizarre antics and plot lines in AD, your will find comical genius. The guys and girls behind the scenes has completely nailed the formula for smart, yet disfunctional comedy.
The cast itself is literally all-star. They are so convincing and believable. You learn the quirks and personalities of the characters in such creative ways!
Though the show only completed 2 full seasons (plus a disappointing total of - I think - 13 episodes in the third season ), you will be amazed by the intelligence in humor it demonstrates.
My only tip to you is to watch from the beginning and don't be afraid to watch it over and over. You will pick up on SO many funny little clues that referrence another topic on the show...it's incredible!

Best writing on TV
January 25, 2007
Arrested Development is one of the most well written shows that I've seen. I own all 3 seasons and it's a show that is funny each time you watch it. The first time that I watched it though, I didn't think it was such a clever comedy. It's a character driven show and by the second season it really helped to know the characters to understand the jokes. Their funniest jokes were subtle utterances that alluded to past moments from earlier episodes. One small example of this is the scene in the third season where Lucille, George, and Lindsay all break into their own chicken dance. I personally think the scene is hilarious. It plays off numerous previous instances of Gob's rediculous chicken dance, but unless you'd watched previous seasons it can come off as complete nonsense. So if someone had just happened upon the show through channel surfing it could be easily dismissed as rediculous physical comedy. That being said, if anyone sat down and watched the show for more than a few episodes, I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't be placed in their personal top 5 comedies of all time.

A tragedy this was canceled
April 4, 2007
This show was BY FARRRRRR, the best comedy on television!!! It makes me sick how this show gets canceled, yet TERRIBLE comedies like "The War at Home" and "Two and a Half Men" get the ratings. I am convinced that the mass public doesn't want to have to think anymore to laugh, they only want shows with laughtracks and cheesy one liners. AD was such a well written show, that you can watch the seasons over and over and pick up things you missed the first 3 times. Top 3 comedy of all time. Too bad FOX was using all their promotional ad time for shows like American idol and whichever one of the ridiculous nanny shows is theirs.

Two Smart For TV
January 18, 2008
This truly was the best comedy on TV since Seinfeld (and it might be better). Everything in this show has two meanings yet the public has been so dumbed down by terrible, brain-less comedies and so called reality TV that it couldn't comprehend the creative humor of this show. Will Arnet, Michael Sera, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Bateman and the rest are comedy gold together.
Give this show a chance and you will not regret it. Too many comedies this day and age need to be crude and offensive in their attempts at humor. Arrested Development is so brilliant it doesn't need that. Dr. Tobias Funke is the best character on TV since George Costanza. Do yourself a favor and rent a DVD. Take a half an hour of your time and you will need more time from that point forward to view the rest.

Arrested Development

It is a wonder that all the other reviews are positive? No because this is a great show. I only started watching it about 6 monthes ago on dvd, so I missed out when it was on the air. However, if it were to come back (which it won't), you can bet I would be watching it. During its original run, I believe that it did not get the ratings it should have and is still underappreciated due to change in schedule and lack of promotion. Out of the hundreds of people that I am in acquantance with daily, only about three of us have ever seen an episode and only about ten have heard of it and know a little about the plot. Of course, the three of us that have seen it have all enjoyed the show and try to get others to watch it, but the others are too busy watching American Idol, Lost, the OC (or whatever new drama is a fad now), etc. Overall, Fox is known to kill its better shows and lets it bad ones slowly decay for many years and if you do decide to watch this, you'll probably not be disappointed unless you wish to watch Dancing with the Stars.
