Bravo - Cant wait until next week!!

    June 4, 2007
This show is a stroke of genius.
Excellent casting - quite realistic. Should have made Joan a CPT, though, instead of LTC. Then I might have bought the bar and bathroom scene. I hope there'll be more enlisted, and enlisted wives also. I've been an officer in the Army deployed to the middle east myself, and an Army wife for 24 years. My husband's gone up the officer ranks, and I've been to many teas and banquets. My husband's been deployed twice. I can relate to almost every character in this show, Roxie as a new wife, Joan, Denise, Claudia, and even Roland, and I know a lot of Pam's. I hope the writers will keep it real - exploring the problems and issues our military families face, including: rank, politics, healthcare, housing, deployments, fidelity, post traumatic stress etc., but do it in a way that maintains respect for the families and institution. - i.e. I would hate to see this become a trashy soap that disrespects the military, and families in it!
Hopefully, it will help us all to remember and thank the family members of our deployed soldiers!!
So far - 5 stars just for the concept and cast!

    In Response..

    June 5, 2007
    To lovelylana,

And all the other military spouses out there who are taking this show personally... What if they DID make a show centered on military family life that WAS accurate.. would you watch it if it was simply a full time working christian mother who went back and forth to work, church and school, carting her kids back and forth, while her husband was deployed?? What would they fill up an hour with.. her clipping coupons and baking cookies for the local fundraiser?? Would that peak your interest so much that you would tune in every week? I seriously doubt it..
They came up with story lines and characters that would entertain.. I am sure the general public is smart enough to realize that the average military family doesnt find themselves in these positions... ...and yet there is always someone out there like you whos gotta bring the show down just because its not 100% accurate in reflecting your own boring life....
Well, perhaps it will inspire you to GO OUT AND GET ONE!! No ones telling you to go have babies to make money, or dance on a bar, but the reality of military life is that of sacrifice.. would you rather Lifetime air a show showing all the military members who have been captured and tortured? Would that be accurate enough for you? Would you be happier seeing what loss and pain a military spouse goes through then? And let me tell you something.. the majority of military officers ARE haughty..and excel at the game called passing the buck..Theres a select few who dont cheat their way up the pay-scale..by permanently planting their lips on their reporting officers rear end.. Leading by example is a dying personality trait in todays military..so please, do the world a favor and change the channel next time if youre so offended..and let the rest of us who enjoy the show..

This is Desperate Housewives for the Military wife

    June 4, 2007
I love it. I will be watching every episode.
Although some of the unkind stereotypes were portrayed, it is the most realistic thing I've ever seen anywhere (television or movies) in regards to the spouses of our Uniformed men and women. You see all of this and more. It sure is refreshing to see FINALLY see realism portrayed.
The only change I would make? Not all Army/military wives have supermodel bodies. Lets get some more real sized women in as lead characters.

    It's definately a TV show

    June 4, 2007
I enjoyed the first episode and I will try to catch the next one, but it is only a television show. I have been married to a military man for 20 years and was active duty before we married. He has been in for 23 years and intends to stay in until at least 26. This show had some familar aspects to it but it is pure entertainment. Anyone who has lived on a military base or post has seen some of what was shown on the show but that is not the whole story. Officiers wives don't spend all their time having teas and stabbing each other in the back, and enlisted wives don't babble over being invited to tea or go out looking for ways to cheat when their husbands. I believe it takes a special person to put up with the military lifestyle as a spouse just like it takes a special person to make a career out of defending this country.
I just hope that the civilians watching this program don't believe this is life in the military because our lives are as diverse as the lives on the civilian side of the gates.
